19 week "bump" update

.... better late than never right?  (even though when I am writing this I am nearly 21 weeks)

(idea borrowed from littlebabygarvin.blogspot.com)
Pregnancy Highlights:

Size of baby:
The baby is about the size of a mango, which surprises me since I consider mango's to be pretty big.

Movement: Nothing yet... and it is all people ask me.  My mom said she never really felt my brother or I move when she was pregnant.  Since my pregnancy is almost identical to hers, I think this might be the case.

Gender: We still don't know, but our Gender Reveal party is planned for May 18th!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: gain +7... I am still sick several times a day, always in the morning or when I overindulge in the evening.

Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing mostly maternity pants.  I have one pair that is a full panel style, but is not my favorite. Leggings are my favorite.  My mom sent some in her last care package and I LOVE THEM.

Sleep: It depends.... I am exhausted everyday at the end of work, but by the time it is bedtime I am wide awake.

What I miss: America, my husband and being able to sleep on my stomach

Cravings: Bagels with veggie cream cheese

Symptoms: morning sickness :(

Best Moment this week: not pregnancy related, but spending Easter with some of my favorite people.
Baby Purchases: I ordered the pack 'n play this week. :)

11 Week Bump Update

(idea borrowed from littlebabygarvin.blogspot.com)
Pregnancy Highlights:

Size of baby:
The baby is about the size of a lime.  We downloaded the "What to Expect When you are Expecting" App on my phone.  Shawn & I love seeing the changes in fruit size each week.

Movement: Nothing yet... but I can't wait to feel this baby

Gender: Shawn swears it is a boy and I think it is a girl.  I keep telling him he is going to be disappointed, but honestly I will be VERY happy with either a boy or a girl.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: loss -3 lbs... I'm sick all day/night long.  Nothing settles my stomach.  I am hoping to see relief in 2 weeks when the second trimester hits.

Maternity Clothes: I ordered a couple of pants from Gap that I have been wearing.  The problem is they are not long enough to wear heels with so I have retired my wedges and heels (for now).  I love wearing maternity leggings from Old Navy.  I wear a Belly Band with my jeans since none of the maternity jeans are long enough for these long legs.

Sleep: I'm not tired and barely sleeping at night.  I guess my body is ok with getting up several times to be sick during the night?

What I miss: Ahi Tuni.  I miss seared Ahi... and sushi.

Cravings: Sushi and Udon noodles

Symptoms: The all day sickness is wearing on me.  I dread mealtime even though I am starving.  I try and fight the urge to be sick, but it only makes me feel worse.  Ginger Ale and crackers DO NOT help.

Best Moment this week: Someone at work told me this week that I am glowing and they have never seen a happier pregnant woman.  I am bursting with happiness.
Baby Purchases: Carters had a HUGE sale on their Christmas onesies so I may have ordered a couple (or ten) for the baby.  :)

Fertility struggles

.... and Insensitive Comments

I never thought I would near my next birthday and not be pregnant or without a baby.  My entire life, I thought I would decide to start a family and I’d soon become a mom.  I figured it would all be easy, and glorious. I never dreamt I would be struggling to get pregnant.

After a while, when you’re not successful, you start to associate the word ‘failure’ every time you pee on a stick and it doesn’t come out the right color.  Every time my period is a few days late, I am excited and then disappointed when it begins.  Everywhere I look, women are pregnant.  My fertility struggles has become a very frustrating place..

When we were still in California, I asked my doctor to be referred to a fertility doctor, since we had been trying to have a baby for nearly a year.  Her response was “you haven’t been trying long enough and you are too young.”  Once we moved here to Okinawa in June, I met my wonderful doctor who told me the following: “It is not ok that you aren’t pregnant and drinking the water here isn’t going to help you.  Let’s find out what is going on.”

After having blood drawn three times, peeing in a cup several times, I am finally seeing a doctor on the 16th that specializes in fertility issues.  I feel relief in finally knowing why I am not pregnant (yet) and looking forward to hearing what can be done to help me.

Love from Okinawa

Hi friends and family!

(sunset over the China Sea, only a 3 minute walk from our place)

We have been in Japan for exactly 4 months today and finally feel settled in.  The island is gorgeous and we are enjoying eating our way through Okinawa!   Since there is a 13 hour time difference between here and home, I thought this would be a good way to keep us connected!
